Can you make me enlightened?

"By oneself is evil done, by oneself defiled,
by oneself it's left undone, by self alone one purified.
Purity, impurity on oneself depend, no one can purify another." Buddha.
(Dhammpada verse:165)

These lines mean,

"It is by one's own self that evil is done. It is one’s own actions that defile a person. If a person does not commit evil action, one is purified. A person is cleansed entirely by one's own self. One cannot purify another. Purity and impurity both depend on one’s own self."

This is the hail from the Buddha. One of the most authenticated enlightened master. In his teaching one aspect can be easily marked, is that he gives utmost importance to individual and individualistic capability. Even on his deathbed, he summarized his complete teachings in three words that, "appa deepo bhava" means, "be a lamp unto yourself." This is one of the most often repeated recommendations of the Buddha. One of the Buddha's deepest and most incisive revelation that kept on guiding spiritual seekers from his time to this day.

These last words of Buddha, were said to his closest disciple 'Ananda', who had been with him for more than forty years,  just like a shadow,, He was very much worried as he thought that, his spiritual experience is result of Buddha's accompany. He worried that if Buddha will die, he will not attain enlightenment. He asked this fear to Buddha.

On hearing 'Ananda', Buddha said, "That is the barrier. You think I can make you enlightened. Its illusion, and until the time you are resorting on any illusion, enlightenment is not possible. You are in illusion of a false hope. You thought that I would do something. Nobody can do anything. Be a light unto yourself."
