Socrates on power of conscience and consciousness



Here in two lines this famous mystic gives the path of becoming illuminated. It is accepted fact that we all born with animal instincts but our control over those instincts make us human being and above human beings, whom we call enlightened. In above lines he is talking about a clear conscience as a bridge to cross the limitation of animalistic nature. Recall the words of philosophy of the Superman by Friedrich Nietzsche in his famous creation ‘Thus Spake Zarathustra.’ This creation will be always revered, as for the first time someone claims that God is dead.  In this book, he gave a concept of super human. For him, man is something that should be overcome, in the same way as he has overcome the animal to become the man. Nietzsche explain this concept in words that, “What is the ape to men? A laughing stock or a painful embarrassment. And just so shall man be to the Superman: a laughing stock or a painful embarrassment". Like Kabir, he too set the parameter to their moral conduct resulting from the good conscience.
