Daily Satire: Indian cricket captain Dhoni launched perfumes under his own signature Brand

Sports career is one of the shortest careers for a professional who opts sports as her/his profession. Length of any professional sports person depends largely on their fitness, form and stamina. Therefore, in this short career if someone finds her/his stars shining bright and high, they try to cash in and make as much money possible. And, why should they not? They have full right to cash in as much as possible.

Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had also joined the league of money makers but unlike other Indian sports star he went one step ahead. He became the first cricketer to launch his own signature brand. '7' a kind of stark name, but that's what he got for his brand name. He says that, he loves number '7' because it is a lucky number for him and also he was born on 7th July. What else to say on this name? You have money, so you have choices.

Under this brand name he launched six perfumes in an event held in Al Joharah Ballroom of Dubai. The six fragrances of perfume are named as Intense, Power, Action, Connect, Cool and Energy.

Rhiti Sports Management is the firm which manages Dhoni's business portfolio. It partnered themselves with Dubai based Beauty Contact to launch men's fragrances range in global market.

Interesting…. A sweat bathed Dhoni will appear on screen with his perfumes and will say, "I use Energy to keep myself fresh on a cricket field." Or it may be like, "Dhoni playing against a women cricket team, who are not able to control their game due to fragrance of Dhoni's perfumes."

Will have to wait and watch, how exactly his perfumes ad will dramatize, but surely we can make out some satires. Dhoni opted to enter already flooded perfume market, but, that's what sports star or celebs can do best to start. Beauty Contact is a renowned name which successfully sell their perfumes internationally with various celebrity names like Maria Sharapova, Alfred Sung, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Perry Ellis, Hummer and Bob Mackie.

How much seriously Dhoni takes his business is crystalized by the fact that, he skipped 'Irani Trophy' in the name of rest. Due to Dhoni's refusal, Virender Sehwag was made skipper to lead Rest of India. Poor Sehwag, his prolonged bad run has not only made him to loose his place in National team, but also in advertisement world. Don’t worry Sehwag, soon you may get some fresh advertisement contract. Just keep an eye on your age which is performing better than you.

From last one year his shining star is losing its brightness and from top spot he continuously had slipped down with his team. He faced humiliating defeat in Tests by England, than he also lost one-day series at home with Pakistan. Looks like it motivated him to come out with some kind of freshness.

Out of six types of fragrances, ironically, he chose 'Energy' as his favourite. Right from starting of his career as a captain of Indian Team, he had been identified as skipper who remains ‘cool’ and a batsman who possess lots of ‘power’ in his shots. But he said, 'I like Energy because I think it’s a bit special.'

'He thinks!!!' He is not sure that's why he only thinks? We are not sure about this but we hope that he should also think to raise his level of captaincy and push India again to top slot.
