Gratitude: Thankfulness for everything in existence

Today we brag on development of human race in every field. We say that we are living a high standard of life, marked with science. Despite of this so-called highest standard of living in the history, humanity is lagging somewhere. Our development and claims seems to be true when we look in contrast of material world and material entanglement. In the root of this development, hides our dissatisfaction with material. This is quality of material, the more you get closer to it you feel it to be less and desire to more. Today humanity seems driven by an insatiable desire for more, better, faster and also bored and disillusioned. Why, in spite of development we are not satisfied, calm and in harmony with life.

Answer lies that we are not in harmony with ourselves thus it’s impossible to live with harmony with others. In the race of development and material achievement, we pay many of our virtues. When we compare these two, we find we have lost more than we have achieved. In this lost thing, we have lost one very important virtue, which is ‘Gratitude’. ‘Marcus Tullius Cicero’ has expressed its importance in words that, “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.”
