Change Is Needed

Happy n Said Moments
One thought which dominates almost every mind when he/she goes through a bad phase in his life after spending some pleasurable and worry free time. Why time changes? And people often compare two different time period. Some example for this situation can be-
It can come after a relationship break up, when people starts living in golden days which passed away.
When someone very close dies then also the same thought creeps in mind. We think that only some time before we were enjoying together, but it changed in a flash. Why?
The same happened with one of my colleague when his father died with cancer just three days before Christmas. On the Christmas Eve, he very desperately came to me and told “last year we were celebrating together but see how everything has changed from then to now. Why change is so cruel?”
His statement compelled me to think on his question, is change really cruel? Why do not people make the same statement when their time transforms from unpleasant to pleasant. Time do not change consciously it is a natural phenomenon. Change may have some meaning in relation to universe and nature, but what about its relation with us. Is it really required to change? Is change needed?
HeraclitusHeraclitus the great western philosopher said, "There is nothing permanent in life except change." Heraclitus who lived around 500 BC in the city of Ephesus, an important city on the Ionian coast of Asia Minor, near Miletus, (the birthplace of philosophy). He became famous for his philosophical utterance, "Everything flows, nothing stands still." He inflamed his idea by saying, "You could not step twice into the same river; for other waters are ever flowing on to you." It was beyond the understanding and capability of people of that time. But it is true for everyone, without any exception. Anyone has to just look around and she/he can find the trueness of Heraclitus statement. Everything what we see today take a new form very next day. One may argue that there are so many things which do not go through change, but what we cannot see, doesn’t mean that it is not changing rather it’s  a question on our ability to find out those changes. Change is the law of existence; it only knows one thing- 'Change'. Everything is in a continuous transformation in nature; you cannot find anything in the world which has gone unchanged, this whole existence is uncertain. While, you are reading this article; so many things have gone through change by this time.
One characteristic of 'change' is clear that, it is the only permanent thing in this universe. But, is it really cruel? Unbiased thinking reveals true nature of change. Change is impartial, sometime things transform from good to bad and vice-versa. There is a balance between transformations. 'When tides come, fish eats ants and when tides go down ant eats fish,' defines the balanced behaviour of change. This change is an ever changing process. It can be good or it can be bad when we relate it to our emotions. That is why; our great spiritual masters focus their teachings on not attaching to anything good or bad. Mahatma Buddha, whole life preached that everything  you think will change and the changed will change further, that's why one must neither get attached to joy (happiness) because that will pass away; nor get depressed with sorrow (suffering) because that too will pass away. Nothing is really permanent in this world. For Buddha, it simply means "that which is ephemeral, that which goes on changing," and this world is ephemeral you cannot rely on it. The only thing you can do is witness the change. Witnessing is the best way to deal with the change. Witnessing change, plays a great role when emotions overflow in favouring time and also it's the great panacea in sorrows. A short story tells beautifully about both witnessing and change, it says -:
There was a saint, who was famous to know the secrets to deal with any situation. King of that state requested him to visit and teach him those secrets. On the request of king, finally the saint paid a visit to king. After all discussion on religion and spirituality finally saint wished to leave, then king reminded him to tell his techniques to deal all kind of situations. The saint than gave two wrapped papers to king. He told king to open one in happiest moment he would ever feel and second in the most desperate situation of his life. Saint went away, king kept those papers with care. After many years king was blessed with a lovely child. It was the happiest moment for him in his life. He conquered many countries, but he was never as happy as he was this day. There was celebration everywhere. Suddenly king the words of saint struck his mind. 'Open one paper in your happiest moment'; he rushed towards box and opened the paper. There was only one line written on the paper, 'this time will change.' All of sudden all his happiness lost. He was trapped in a virtual maze. He found it true that every time when he thought to be the best part of his life, had no more value for him. Time kept passing away. One day his kingdom was attacked by his enemies and he was compelled to leave the place hiding in to forests. Even in this tragic situation he didn’t forgot to take the second paper. One day he was very desperate and lost every hope; then he opened the second paper. The moment he read, he laughed loudly. He got the secret of life; it was written-'this time too will change.' He was filled with new hope and energy. He stood up, started everything fresh and succeeded in getting his throne back. What was the secret saint taught him?  Witnessing the change, and change played his role perfectly both the time.
Sadness
Change sometime seems to be bad and cruel but it is only a shadow of the silver line behind it. It opens an envelope with something new inside and you are afraid of that, only because you don’t know what’s inside.  Some make a mark that "Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by discomforts." It is not actually discomfort; rather it is our nature which pushes us to leave in same situation. It is because of our adaptation. We are afraid of unsettlement; this is the reason behind our resistance against change. Change is the basis of creativity, rejuvenation, reformation. Every time in destruction you can find the seed of creation. Every creation comes when some change is made. Though change is difficult, it seems bad but still it is required because that is what we call life.
